Data overview
What the Data section covers, from registering apps to controlling the events and attributes you store.
This section covers everything that flows into a workspace: the apps that send data, the events and user attributes you store, and CSV imports. In the sidebar, Apps sits at the top level, Data Management, Data Imports and Ad platforms are in the Data group, and API Keys are under Settings.

Key ideas
- Events are things users do, such as Order Placed. User attributes are facts about a user, such as
cityorloyalty_tier. Both are created the first time your app, server or an import sends them. - Test and Live are separate. Everything on these pages applies to the environment you are in. See Test and Live.
- Control, don't delete. You can hide a name from pickers or block it so it is no longer stored. Data already stored stays.
Where to start
- Register your apps so TrueEngage can verify where events come from.
- Send a first event with an SDK.
- Open Data management to see it arrive, then give it a display name and category.
