Campaigns overview
What a campaign is, the four campaign types, and where to find each how-to.
A campaign sends one message to an audience on one channel. You pick a template, choose who gets it, and decide when it goes out. Every time a campaign fires, TrueEngage records a run with its own counts and skip reasons, so you can see exactly what happened.
Open Engage, then Campaigns, to see them all.
Campaign types
| Type | Sends | Needs an audience | Needs a schedule or trigger |
|---|---|---|---|
| One time | Once, at a time you pick (or when you press Run now) | Yes | Send time |
| Recurring | Daily, weekly or monthly | Yes | Recurrence |
| Event triggered | When a user does something, such as adding to cart | Yes | Trigger event |
| API triggered | When your server calls the API | No, you name the recipients per call | None |
| Transactional | One-to-one messages such as OTPs, through a transactional endpoint | No | None |
How a campaign moves
- Draft. You save the wizard without publishing. Nothing sends.
- Scheduled or Running. You publish. One-time and recurring campaigns wait for their time. Event-triggered and API-triggered campaigns show Live and wait for their trigger.
- Completed. A one-time campaign has finished its run. You can run it again.
- Paused or Stopped. You can pause and resume a live campaign, or stop it for good.
Every send still passes the send gate: consent, frequency caps, quiet hours and the Test allowlist. See Core concepts.
