A campaign report is a file with one row per campaign and one row per flow: what it is, who made it, how it was set up, and how it performed. You choose which campaigns, which columns and when to build it. TrueEngage builds the file in the background and keeps it for 7 days.

Find it under Reports & Alerts, Reports, on the Campaign reports tab.

Before you start

  • You need permission to view campaign reports, and to view campaigns. To include flows, you also need to view flows.
  • To create, change, pause or delete a report you need permission to manage campaign reports. Only the person who created a report, or an owner, can change it.
  • The file holds totals per campaign and per flow, never individual people. There are no user ids, addresses or per-recipient rows.

Create a report

Select New report. The report is set up in three steps; the summary beside the steps shows what you chose so far.

1. Select campaigns

  1. Enter a Report name.
  2. Choose the Date range: Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, This week, Last week, Last 30 days, This month, Last month, Since a date, a Custom range, or Last N days, weeks or months. A line under the range says exactly which dates apply, in your workspace time zone.
  3. Under Include performance data, choose Only for the selected dates (numbers add up inside the range) or For each campaign's whole life.
  4. Under Find campaigns, narrow the list: campaigns, flows or both; channels; delivery type (one time, periodic, event triggered and the others your campaigns use); tags; who created it; who approved it; and whether archived ones count.
  5. The count under the filters shows how many campaigns and flows match. Next stays off until at least one matches, and the reason is written under it.

A campaign or flow is included when it was created, changed or sent anything during the dates you chose.

2. Report format and content

  1. Tick the columns you want. They are grouped (Campaign attributes, Campaign content, Target audience, Audience limit, Multivariate settings, Locales, Control group, Campaign schedule, Delivery stats, Conversions, Cost). Search finds a column by name; a group's box ticks or clears the whole group.
  2. Choose CSV or Excel (.xlsx), the separator for CSV, and whether to compress it as a zip.
  3. Split by channel gives one sheet (Excel) or one file in a zip (CSV) per channel, plus one for flows.
  4. The preview shows sample rows, not your data, so you can check the columns and their order.

3. Scheduling and delivery

  1. Choose One time (as soon as possible, or at a date and time) or Periodic (daily, weekly on a day, or monthly on a date or on the first, second, third, fourth or last weekday).
  2. The time zone is your workspace's and is shown, not chosen.
  3. Under Who gets it, choose people in the workspace and, if needed, other addresses (turn on Allow outside addresses). Up to 20 recipients. Leave it empty to download the file yourself.
  4. Select Create report.

What recipients get

An email with the report name, the dates, the number of rows and a Download the report link. The link works until the file is deleted, 7 days after it was built. The file is never attached. Every email has a link to stop receiving it.

What the columns mean

  • Delivery stats come from the hourly delivery rollup, the same numbers as Analytics, Campaign stats: targeted, sent, delivered, opened (email only), clicked, failed, skipped, held back, delivery rate (delivered out of sent) and click rate (clicked out of delivered; for email, out of opened). Rates are written as fractions: 0.25 is 25%.
  • Skipped by reason and Failed by reason list each reason with its count, for example frequency_cap: 12; dnd: 3.
  • Conversions: converted messages (the flag on the campaign page), goal conversions, primary goal conversions and their value. When conversions were recorded in more than one currency, the value is left blank and the currencies are listed.
  • Control group numbers (held-out users, treated users, primary goal lift and whether it is significant) always cover the whole campaign, whatever the dates.
  • Cost appears only where the sending provider reported one.
  • A column that does not apply to a row is blank. For example, flows have no approver and no template column.

Not available yet: delivery split by push platform or by variant, message text, custom metrics, and unsubscribes or bounces per campaign.

The list

Each row shows the report name, who created it, when, its schedule, its type and the status of its latest run. Select the arrow on a row to see its run history and download any file that has not expired. The menu on a row has Download latest file, Edit, Duplicate, Pause or Resume, Run now and Delete.

  • Run now builds the file straight away for the person who created the report, and emails nobody. It can be used three times an hour.
  • A report stops itself (paused) when the person who created it loses access to campaigns, or after five failed runs in a row.

Limits

  • At most 5,000 campaigns and flows in one file. When more match, the run fails and says so; narrow the filters or the dates.
  • A file can be up to 20 MB and must build within 5 minutes.
  • Up to 50 periodic reports can be active in an environment.
  • Files are deleted 7 days after they are built.
